2015-16 Beacon Award Winner

Weston College was the 2015 Beacon Award Winner; Kirklees College was shortlisted.

Weston College’s LibraryPlus is an innovative and dynamic service which is well embedded in all learning and teaching activities across the college. The creative strategy for supporting curriculum needs enriches students’ learning experience and represents an excellent example of building a digital future in further education.

The winner was announced by Baroness Sharp of Guildford, President of the AoC Charitable Trust, at AoC Annual Conference on Tuesday 17th November 2015.

The AoC Beacon Awards national presentation ceremony took place on 10th February at Westminster.

2013 Beacon Award Winner

The Library and Learning Support Centre at Northern College has driven the use of ILT to improve teaching and learning. Tablets are integrated into the curriculum and their use is helping to build a social network between students, improving confidence in learning techniques, revision skills and group work.

2011 Beacon Award Winner

The Library Team at Northampton College collaborated with curriculum colleagues to design and deliver information and study skills sessions. Excellent feedback showed enormous benefit to students.

2009 Beacon Award Winner

Exeter College took the award in 2009 for a one-stop portal which gives students access to a huge range of resources that supports their learning whenever they need it. A key feature of the portal is that it can be accessed on hand-held devices such as smart phones and PDAs.
