The winners of the Best Practice Awards 2013 were:
First prize
Weston College for its entry ‘Tech Genius’ which the judges particularly applauded for its service interaction.
Second prize
Somerset College with its sustainable ‘Conversation Café’ which is boosting college enrolment figures.
Third prize
There were are three joint third prizes:
- Sparsholt College and their ‘Guerilla Librarians’ project, a high impact initiative utilising staff IT and social media skills
- Esher College for its Learning Improvement Programme which supports curriculum developments and recognises service staff as partners in learning
- Oldham Sixth Form College for ‘The Know Induction’ which demonstrated demonstrates a high level of co-operation between service staff and colleagues across the college.

Lincoln college for their innovative use of a murder mystery theme to engage students with referencing
Second place
Hillcroft College for their user of ‘Wordwall’ to teach students about copyright and plagiarism.
Reader development
First place
Bridgwater College for their sensory book bag project
Second place
East Kent college for their implementation of the Six Book Challenge to recruit at all levels across the college and provide multiple entry points for engagement with reading
Third place
Lincoln College for their Six Book Challenge workshops.
